Ligia, your official tour guide in Madrid

Ligia, Official Tour Guide in Madrid by the Puerta del Sol

Hi there! My name is Ligia Gil and I am an official tour guide in Madrid. Toledo, Ávila and Segovia are also cities where I work. I am also an official APIT tour guide. I have spent many years working as a tourist guide. Furthermore, I am bilingual in Spanish (my native tongue) and English. My speciality is National Heritage sites. This comprises of palaces, monasteries, monuments.

It also includes sites of special cultural interest. Such an example is the city of Madrid and surrounds (Aranjuez, Toledo, El Escorial etc…).

As I mentioned, I am a paid up member of the Association of Official Tour Guide in Madrid – APIT. My official membership number is 1178.

Interestingly, Madrid is surrounded by Spanish cities declared as UNESCO World heritage sites. The closest to Madrid are Toledo, Segovia and Ávila. You can visit any of these cities with me as an official tour guide. In relation to Toledo, I am an authorised guide for the Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo. My guide number is 460. In relation to the Toledo monuments (Pulsera turística de Toledo), my guide number is 130.

Furthermore, I am a member of C.E.F.A.P.I.T. and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations. Also, I am self-employed, or autónoma in Spanish. This means I pay my taxes to the Spanish state. Moreover, I also have seguro de la responsabilidad civil or Liability Insurance. The above information is very important. Consequently, it gives you a guarantee of my level of experience, professionalism and proficiency. This gives a level of assurance to my clients that they will receive a first quality service.

My plan as an APIT guide

As an official APIT tour guide, my first priority is with you of course, dear traveller. So, a tour with me will hopefully leave the taste of history on your tongue and with memories of architectural and artistic marvels reverberating in your mind. With the correct combination of fact and anecdote, I hope to offer you an entertaining trip through time.

What’s more, I write regularly on various topics such as Spanish painters, palaces and monasteries. So please check back regularly on my blog. I am eager to meet you and share with you my knowledge of palaces and the doings and goings of their royal residents through the ages.
